McNICHOLS carries the largest inventory of Perforated Metal products in North America with a vast selection of sizes, gauges and hole types available. In both high-end and industrial settings, Perforated Metal brings strength and style to enclosures, partitions, sign panels, guards, screens and other structures. This dynamic product line offers ventilation, versatility and a high strength-to-weight ratio. Perforated Metal is also an excellent product for filtration (sound, liquid, light, etc.) applications. McNICHOLS stocks Perforated Metal in a variety of materials including Aluminum, Carbon Steel, Galvanized Steel, Stainless Steel and even Plastic!
The following selections are important considerations to help you choose the right McNICHOLS® Perforated Metal product for your project or application. Please specify:
Product applications/uses include displays, exhibits, fixtures, partitions, cabinet inserts, guards, furniture, building facades, infill panels, screening, sign panels, filters, baskets, ventilation, security enclosures and more. We invite you to browse Perforated Metal applications in our Product and Application Gallery.
Choose from a wide variety of Round, Square, Slotted, Hexagonal or Designer Perforated hole types.
Select the primary material type including Aluminum, Carbon Steel, Galvanized Steel, Stainless Steel or Plastic, taking into consideration climate or environmental realities. Inventory is typically “mill finish” unless otherwise specified. We provide more information on Primary Material Types and Product Finishes in the links provided in the Overview section on the Perforated Metal Resources landing page.
Decide the material gauge number or thickness in inches. The Gauges, Thicknesses & Weights by Primary Material table on the Perforated Metal Resources landing page has additional information.
Identify hole size (diameter), hole type (shape), hole center (spacing) and hole arrangement (staggered centers, straight centers, reverse staggered centers) or Designer Perforated series name and number.
Choose the percentage of open area desired in the Perforated Metal sheet or plate.
Specify solid margin preferences on width and/or length of sheet if required for your application. Most inventory 11 Gauge and lighter has minimum solid side margins running the length of the sheet and no end margins running the width of the sheet (material ends have holes that are sheared through). Sheets heavier than 11 Gauge typically have either a finished or unfinished pattern with corresponding end margins.
Identify product size(s), form (typically supplied in sheets) and quantity desired, including cut-to-size pieces. Items that are 3/16" or thicker are identified as plate.
Specify any requirements for special cut-to-size pieces, margin or edge treatments, finishing, leveling, fabrication, non-standard tolerances, etc. If your project calls for Infill Panels, an Infill Panel Worksheet is available in the Overview section on the Perforated Metal Resources landing page.
Determine if Perforated Metal Accessories such as Angle, Flat Bar or U-Edging framing solutions are required for your application.
