Understanding Micron Sizes
Microns is a metric measurement. For example 1,000 micron means that the hole size is 1 millimeter big. 800 Micron is roughly the size of a window screen. 400 micron is half the hole size of an 800 micron.

Nominal means "average particle size" allowed through the filter
Absolute means "largest particle size" allowed through the filter

Weave Styles
The weave of a mesh identifies how the wires are woven together when the mesh is produced.

Mesh Ratings
Stainless screens can also be rated in "Mesh" ratings as well. Below is a conversion chart to give you an idea of how micron and mesh relate to each other. Micron to mesh conversion ratings aren't exact, as mesh ratings typically involve not only hole size, but include the wire width and weave style, but the chart below will give a fairly good approximation of what mesh a particular micron size corresponds to.

- This has heavy duty metal triangular bars welded to heavy duty rods. The bars are 177 micron apart from each other. We used this as a support for Biodiesel Ion Exchange Dry Wash Resin in our large Dry Wash Towers that we used to sell.
